THE JEWISH NGO B’nai B’rith International denounced Thursday that the president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, refused to meet with the Israeli ambassador to his country, Gil Artzyeli.

Artzyeli was summoned today at the Moneda Palace to deliver his credentials. However, according to Agencia AJN, the ambassador was not received by the Chilean president. “Gabriel Boric declined to receive him when the ambassador was already there, which led to a diplomatic tension between the two countries,” the media highlighted.

Gabriel Boric attitude criticized

B’nai B’rith International assured that Boric’s action is a diplomatic offense. “Outraged that Chile’s President refused to meet with the Israeli ambassador in Chile, who was to present his credentials to the president. Unprecedented rejection of an ambassador is a deep diplomatic offense, threatens decades of positive relations Chile-Israel relations,” the organization highlighted, which is charged with fighting anti-Semitism in the world.

In view of the situation, the renowned Chilean lawyer of Jewish origin and former presidential candidate Ricardo Israel said that it would be the first time in the history of Chile that such an event has taken place.

“International relations depend exclusively on the President, and Boric’s latest gesture in front of Israel puts him in the showcase of being the first clearly anti-Semitic in the country’s history, and he is communicating this to the world,” Israel wrote on his Twitter account.
