The presidential elections in Colombia continue to be a topic of conversation in Latin America. In the middle of the beginning of the electoral process for Colombians abroad, the right-wing senator, María Fernanda Cabal, denounced in El American that the company selected to audit the scrutiny software, DataSys Group, lacks experience. In addition, she detailed that it seems that it was sanctioned in Honduras for breach of contract.

Cabal affirmed that according to the certificate of the Chamber of Commerce, DataSys has experience in technical assistance, consulting in electronic systems and services, assembly, private security, and electronic security. However, there is no mention of electoral auditing. In fact, she explains that on the company’s web page, on May 20, 2022, the electoral audit service was not offered, but two days later, on May 22, this changed.

In the last hours, the Registraduría indicated that it selected that Costa Rican company, but that so far, the contract with DataSys, has not been signed and the committees of the Registraduría and the Consejo Nacional Electoral, are reviewing documents to award the contract.

“The serious thing is that the elections in Colombia began more than 24 hours ago in 67 countries, without the existence of an auditing firm for the electoral process,” Cabal detailed in a press release sent to El American.

The electoral process has the attention of Colombians and the whole world due to the importance and impact that the result will have on the whole region. This is due to the possibility that Gustavo Petro, the leftist candidate close to totalitarian regimes such as Venezuela and Cuba, may become president.
