‘Democrats Have Not Been Strong Enough’: Bernie Sanders Attacks His Party

Leer en Español

Radical leftist Senator Bernie Sanders attacked the Democratic Party and accused it of not doing what, in his opinion, it should. The comments against his party were made during an interview in which he lashed out at millionaires and the “establishment” within the Democrats.

“The theme that I am going to be bringing forth and making as strongly as I can is that if you have concerns about creating an economy that works for all people, and not just billionaires, you cannot vote for Republicans,” Sanders told The Rolling Stone.

The senator added that he will undertake an electoral campaign with the midterm elections as a goal. He highlighted that he would visit states such as Wisconsin, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, where he considers that the Democrats could have a greater impact.

He argued that the Democratic Party should not listen to its campaign donors. “My role will be simply to do everything I can to make sure that the Democratic Party listens to the vast majority of the people, who happen to be working-class people. Not just to establishment consultants and wealthy campaign donors.”

Finally, he added, “Republicans are going to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to pay for huge tax breaks for billionaires and the wealthiest people in this country. I don’t think that’s what the American people want.” However, despite Sanders’ assertion, hardly any Republicans have pushed these policies on their agenda.
