Host Don Lemon referred to CNN’s decision to change the time slot of his program from the evening to the morning schedule. After several people claimed he had been demoted, Lemon assured that the decision was made because he has new projects and described the situation as an “opportunity.”
“Lemon, who hosts “Don Lemon Tonight,” will no longer host the evening show once he assumes his new morning role, but insisted Thursday the career change is not a demotion,” the Daily Caller reported.
“I was presented with an opportunity that I can’t pass up at this network, and we have a new boss who is a morning show impresario and he wants a morning show that will kick off the editorial direction of the network every single day and I am honored that he asked me to do it,” Lemon said.

He added: “I was not demoted, this was an opportunity.” He said he was surprised to receive the news.
Changes at CNN
According to the Daily Caller, the channel’s decision comes at a time when the new CEO, Chris Licht, is making changes to have more bipartisan news coverage. “Licht has shaken things up throughout the network, seemingly seeking a more bipartisan approach to coverage. The network canceled Brian Stelter’s Sunday show, “Reliable Sources.'”
