El American tapped Luis Cornelio as its new English Editor-in-Chief. Mr. Cornelio joined El American as an associate editor in February 2021. Luis is taking over from Ben Kew, who will move into a role as Editor-at-Large.

He will oversee the English version of El American, which runs alongside the Spanish site, headed by co-editors-in-chief Vanessa Vallejo and Orlando Avendaño.

“Luis has the experience and knowledge to promote the job that we have been doing successfully for over a year. We know that this is a great opportunity for El American and we are happy for his new position. Together with his talent, we will be able to take El American to another level,” Vallejo and Avendaño wrote in a statement to El American.

Most recently, Luis worked as the Director of Communications at the American Voters’ Alliance, an election integrity watchdog group, and communication and research aide to Phill Kline and the Amistad Project.

Luis also served as a research analyst in former President Trump’s re-election campaign, where he provided key research to speeches and press releases of the 45th U.S. President on topics of law and order, immigration, and Supreme Court.

His experience in national politics, conservative thought, and English writing will ensure that El American continues to provide its reader with the most accurate, fact-based news for conservative Hispanics living in the U.S.
