Top FBI Official Steps Down After Stalling Hunter Biden’s Investigations

A top FBI official resigned after being accused of halting investigations involving Hunter Biden and his father, Joe Biden.

Timothy Thibault, a special agent in charge of the FBI, allegedly helped pause criminal investigations into Hunter Biden’s laptop and his business dealings abroad.

According to the Washington Times, Thibault was dismissed from his position and escorted by at least two “headquarters-looking types” during his departure.

Thibault had already been on leave after the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), expressed concern over whistleblower claims that the FBI had obstructed investigations into Hunter Biden.

In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray in July, Grassley said Thibault and FBI supervisory intelligence analyst Brian Auten were allegedly engaged in “a scheme” to “undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”

According to Grassley, Thibault also allegedly attempted to eliminate a legitimate investigative path to investigate Hunter Biden’s possible wrongdoing until at least a month before the November 2020 election.

“Thibault allegedly ordered the matter closed without providing a valid reason as required by FBI guidelines … [and] subsequently attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future,” Grassley wrote.

After learning of Thibault’s departure, Grassley said in a statement: “Thibault’s blatant partisanship undermined the work and reputation of the FBI. This type of bias in high-profile investigations casts a shadow over all of the bureau’s work that he was involved in, which ranged from opening an investigation into Trump based on liberal news articles to shutting down investigative activity into Hunter Biden that was based on verified information.”

He added: “Political bias should have no place at the FBI, and the effort to revive the FBI’s credibility can’t stop with his exit. We need accountability, which is why Congress must continue investigating and the inspector general must fully investigate as I’ve requested.”

Senator Ron Johnson welcomed the news of Thibault’s departure: “I appreciate that Thibault is reportedly no longer with the FBI where it’s alleged he engaged in partisan activities. Still, he and other FBI officials must be held accountable if they undermined my investigation into the Biden family’s foreign financial entanglements.”
