El American’s Idiot of the Week award goes to comedian Whoopi Goldberg for saying that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race.
In her morning show The View, the African-American actress said that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race because both the Nazis and the Jews were white.
This nonsensical statement highlights how the woke ideology is corrupting all concepts. After all, we should not be surprised by Whoopi Goldberg’s statement because it fits perfectly with the redefinition of racism in recent years, which has been reduced to the discrimination exercised by whites against blacks.
For Whoopi Goldberg, the Holocaust is not about race because it is not about her race.
After the uproar and outrage caused by her statements, Whoopi Goldberg asked for forgiveness on Twitter, and also rushed to appear on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to try to apologize and explain herself.
Far from doing so, she poured more salt into the wound. In her speech, she said that “as a black person, I think of race as something I can see. I see you and I know what race you are,” and that since Jews and Nazis were white, well, that’s why it wasn’t a racial thing.
This sounds like “all white people are the same” to Whoopi Goldberg. Apparently, if this is said by a white person about blacks or Asians, it is very racist, but if it is said by a black person like Whoopi Goldberg, it is an acceptable explanation.
Born Caryn Elaine Johnson, her choice of “Goldberg” as her stage name now takes on a new dimension. For the left, everything is cultural appropriation, except when it is done by one of their own, of course.
Whoopi Goldberg cancelled, but just a bit
Perhaps because of her status as a leftist activist and a black person, there has not been a relentless movement to cancel Whoopi Goldberg for her statements. Everyone is taking her nonsensical explanations at face value and settling for a two-week suspension from The View, which might as well be a vacation.
Others without the credentials and oppression points that Whoopi Goldberg has have not been so lucky. A few months ago, Gina Carano made a very mild and innocent comparison between the atmosphere in Nazi Germany with Jews and today’s America with conservatives and was summarily canceled from all jobs and projects she had in the works. But of course, Gina Carano is no leftist.
While Whoopi Goldberg spends two weeks resting and the progressive media tries to justify her statements, we give her the Idiot of the Week award from El American.
