Texas Governor Greg Abbott talked again about the ongoing border crisis and called it an “invasion.” He also argued that the situation is driven by criminal cartels that make a living at the border crossing.

“We have an invasion driven by the cartels coming across our border that are pouring people into our country at unprecedented levels. We know about 42 terrorists who have been apprehended coming across the border,” Governor Abbott said in a statement to Fox News.

The governor explained that the crisis was because President Biden lifted some of the immigration measures promoted by his predecessor. “It was just two years ago we had the lowest number of people coming across the border and apprehensions under President Trump,” he said.

According to Fox News, Governor Abbott’s comments come at a time when there were more than two-hundred and thirty-nine thousand migrant encounters in May. At the same time, he said there were thousands of migrant apprehensions in Texas alone over the Independence Day weekend.
