Video: John Fetterman Vandalized a Store While He Was Mayor

Leer en Español

John Fetterman and Mehmet Oz are getting closer and closer in the polls due to two main factors: the former’s poor performance in his public appearances, and his history with crime, which is being exploited by Republicans in their ads. In the last few hours, in fact, a video that benefits the Oz campaign went viral: It showed Fetterman vandalizing a store.

The event occurred in 2010 while the current lieutenant governor served as mayor of Braddock, a position he held for 9 more years. It was all recorded by the small business’s security cameras and, 12 springs later, it went viral.

Assim Chaudhry, the then-owner of Club 804, walked into a city council meeting with Cordell Collins, a man interested in buying his business, to show those present a video of the mayor attacking the premises.

Specifically, the video showed Fetterman vandalizing the sign and changing its message from ““Opening Soon Under New Management” to “Closed Not Opening Soon.”

“This is the mayor. This is who you guys have running this town”. Chaudhry expressed at the city council meeting.

Far from being embarrassed by what had happened, the now senatorial candidate boasted about the fact in dialogue with the local media. According to him, he knew perfectly well that he was being filmed and that was his way of letting the club know that he was going to try to shut them down.

Oz came very close to Fetterman in the polls

The current lieutenant governor’s record on crime is heavily favoring Mehmet Oz, his Republican opponent for the upcoming Nov. 8 election.

According to the latest poll released by Emerson College, just two points separate the candidates, while a few months ago Fetterman was comfortably leading the race.

The two will face off in a debate on October 25, just days before the election that will determine who will take Pat Toomey’s seat next year.
