Senator Johnson: ‘The FBI Cannot be Trusted with the Handling of Hunter Biden’s Laptop’

In the last few hours, news has surfaced that could confirm what many Republicans have said: the FBI has refused to investigate the Hunter Biden case before the 2020 presidential election. The finding came about thanks to the bravery of multiple whistleblowers, who contacted one person in particular: Senator Ron Johnson.

According to the Wisconsin senator, FBI officials asked not to investigate Biden’s first son’s laptop for months, assuring that the bureau “is not going to change the outcome of the election again.”

Faced with a sense of injustice and disparate treatment under the law, a group of people with knowledge of the subject contacted Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. He did not hesitate to write to the state agency and ask for an explanation.

“In October 2020, I called on the FBI to explain what actions it took after receiving the laptop. The FBI failed to respond to my questions and I led the call for you to examine whether the FBI took appropriate and necessary investigative steps after receiving Hunter Biden’s laptop,” wrote the senator in a letter to Michael Horowitz, inspector general of the DOJ.

“While I understand your hesitation to investigate a matter that may be related to an ongoing investigation, it is clear to me based on numerous credible whistleblower disclosures that the FBI cannot be trusted with the handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop. I hope you understand that the longer your office stands on the sidelines and delays investigating the FBI’s actions, the harder it will be for you to uncover the truth and hold individuals accountable for wrongdoing. I call on you to immediately investigate the FBI’s handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop and begin by obtaining the history of the investigative actions taken by the FBI on Hunter Biden’s laptop, which should be available on the FBI’s case management system, Sentinel. This case file should provide valuable information about the FBI’s steps to examine the laptop,” added the legislator, who will seek a third term in November.

In addition, Johnson described these whistleblowers as “individuals with knowledge of the FBI’s apparent corruption.”

He was joined by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who claimed that at least 14 whistleblowers within the FBI contacted his office with information about the handling of investigations into conservative parents pushing for local school board reforms and the January 6 Capitol riot.
