Vice President Kamala Harris’ chief spokeswoman, Symone Sanders, will leave her post at the White House at the end of the year, CNN reported.

The network said Sanders communicated her decision to the White House team through a letter sent Wednesday night, in which she thanked Vice President Harris for her confidence.

“I’m grateful for [Tina Flournoy, chief of staff in Harris’ office], her leadership and her confidence as well,” Sanders said in the letter. “Every day, I arrived to the White House complex knowing our work made a tangible difference for Americans. I am immensely grateful and will miss working for her and with all of you.”

Harris reacted to Sanders’ resignation Thursday afternoon. “I love Symone,” the vice president told reporters. “I can’t wait to see what she will do next, and I know that it’s been a, you know, it’s been three years of a lot of jumping on and off planes and going around the country, and she works very hard, and I can’t wait to see what she’ll do next.”

A new resignation in Kamala Harris’ office

Sanders, 31, who had served as a senior adviser to Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign before taking the White House post, becomes the second employee to leave Harris’ office in less than a month, after her communications director, Ashley Etienne, announced her resignation in mid-November.

Both staff changes were announced following reports of “dysfunction” and “lack of focus” in the White House regarding Kamala Harris’ work.
