In the last few hours, Dr. Oz went from likely to lose the Pennsylvania Senate race to being virtually within a margin of error with John Fetterman. According to one of the latest polls, this surge in the Republican’s numbers is being carried by one demographic group in particular: Latinos.

The latest poll conducted by Emerson College and The Hill yielded a result that is striking given the most recent electoral history.

It turns out that, among the surveyed Latinos, 46.2% said they would support Oz in the upcoming election, while only 32.1% leaned Democrat. These results contrast sharply with those of 2020, when, according to NBC News exit polling, Joe Biden won the Hispanic vote in Pennsylvania with 65% of the vote.

This Latino voter support for Oz is the latest sign that the Hispanic vote is shifting strongly in favor of the GOP, even in marked swing states like Pennsylvania.

The poll also found strong parity between the two candidates, with Fetterman polling above Oz by just 2 percentage points, 45% to 43%.

“Since last month, Fetterman’s four point lead has shrunk to two points. Despite a two point lead on the ballot, a majority of Pennsylvania voters (55%) expect Fetterman to win the election while 45% expect Oz to win, regardless of whom they support,” the poll summary stated.

“There is a gender divide in the race for US Senate: men break for Oz over Fetterman by six points, while women voters break for Fetterman by seven,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling.

It is important to clarify that the sample taken by the aforementioned pollster was mostly made up of Democrats.

The survey also revealed the preferences of the Keystone State voters when approaching the polls. The economy was the most important issue with 39%, followed by threats to democracy (14%) and access to abortion (13%).

Finally, and, returning to the Senate race, the proportion of voters who say Fetterman’s stroke makes no difference in their vote has declined by nine percentage points since August.
