Russian forces have eliminated 21 American fighters in Ukraine in the past four weeks, according to the daily report released by the Russian Defense Ministry.

“From July 8 to August 5 as a result of attack actions of the Russian forces and militias of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics the number of mercenaries in Ukraine decreased from 2,741 to 2,192,” military spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

Konashenkov added that among the foreign fighters who were eliminated there are 21 Americans, 33 Romanians, and 36 Canadians.

At the same time, the highest number of fatalities was recorded among Polish mercenaries, who lost 99 fighters, according to Russia.

The Defense spokesman said that in the mentioned period, 175 people arrived in Ukraine to take part in combat actions, among them 81 Georgians.

Last week, the authorities of separatist Donetsk filed criminal cases in court against five more alleged mercenaries on charges of terrorism and attempts to forcibly change the constitutional order of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

The defendants are citizens of Sweden, Croatia, and the United Kingdom.

Last June 9 the Donetsk judiciary sentenced to death two British fighters and one Moroccan captured during the battle for Mariupol.
