The Russian Foreign Ministry today expanded its blacklist of U.S. citizens, whose entry will be banned to the country with the inclusion of actors Sean Penn and Ben Stiller in addition to 23 other Americans, including several secretaries, deputy secretaries, and businessmen.

“Permanent ban on entry to Russia imposed on a new group of members of the US Congress, senior officials, businessmen, and experts, as well as representatives of the sphere of culture (25 people),” the Russian diplomacy said in a statement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified that it is a response measure “to the sanctions against Russian citizens constantly expanded by the administration of President Joe Biden.”

The list includes Penn and Stiller, who visited Kyiv in April and June of this year, respectively, where they met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In addition, the blacklist included Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo; Deputy Secretaries of Commerce Matthew Axelrod, Don Graves, Thea Rozman Kendler, and Jeremy Pelter; and several senators from the two parties, businessmen, and political analysts.

The United States, along with the United Kingdom, Canada, the European Union, and others, imposed sanctions against Russia for its military campaign in Ukraine, including personal restrictions and a ban on dealing with companies or even sectors of the Russian economy.
