The Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, faces a new controversy after spreading Tuesday on social networks a photo of two friends of hers in Kesäranta, the official residence of the heads of government.
In the photo, uploaded to the portal TikTok, two young women appear kissing with almost naked torsos and hiding their breasts with a sign that says “Finland”, with a blue background similar to that used by Marin in some official press conferences.
The Finnish president admitted to journalists on Tuesday that the image was taken in Kesäranta and that the two young women in the photo are friends of hers, although she apologized for the snapshot.
“I think that picture is not appropriate, I apologize for that. They should not have taken that photo, but otherwise, nothing extraordinary happened during that night,” Marin told reporters.
The prime minister said that the two young women were part of a group of friends she invited to the official residence on July 9, after attending a rock festival where she was photographed in a leather jacket and denim shorts that went around the world.
“We took a sauna, went swimming and were in the garden, but we didn’t go into the main building. We only used the guest toilets on the first floor, which is where that photo was apparently taken,” Marin said.
