A group of teachers has called for a protest outside the US Open in New York in solidarity with Serbian Novak Djokovic, who was prevented from participating in the tournament due to the vaccination mandate imposed by the federal government.

They are “Teachers for Choice,” a group of educators who have participated in protests in New York against the vaccination mandate imposed by local authorities on public servants.

The protest, called under the slogan “End the travel vaccination requirement,” is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Djokovic, a three-time champion in New York and a finalist last year, has been unable to play the 2022 American tour, both at the opening and this season’s close, because of the mandates, even though he was able to play the tournament last year.

The Serb, winner of 21 majors, also missed the last Australian Open for the same reason.
