Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) weighed in on the controversial FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, explaining that the action is abusive, un-American, and exposes the double standard of American justice under the Biden administration.

“The FBI raiding Donald Trump is unprecedented. It’s corrupt and an abuse of power,” Ted Cruz said in a Twitter thread. “What Nixon tried to do, Biden has now implemented: The Biden Administration has fully weaponized the Department of Justice and the FBI to target their political enemies. And with 87,000 new IRS agents, they’re coming for you too.”

The Republican senator suggested that members of Congress should demand explanations for this raid that is generating much controversy and a significant climate of tension nationally.

Congress must demand answers. We need hearings; we need subpoenas,” Cruz said. “The Democrats in charge will refuse, but the American people deserve to know why Biden is using the FBI as his political enforcers. Tin-pot dictators do that, but that’s not how America works.

Does Trump’s home raid expose FBI and DOJ double standard?

Numerous well-known figures in the conservative world have cited cases of potential corruption and violence by people intimately tied to the Democratic Party who have received far more benevolent treatment from the American justice and security system than President Trump, who is the first president to be raided.

Ted Cruz added to this trend, explaining that “this same Justice Department ignored Hunter Biden (who filmed himself committing multiple felonies); ignored Hillary Clinton; largely ignored BLM/ANTIFA rioters; ignored dangerous protesters outside Justices’ homes; and ignored Jeffrey Epstein’s clients.”

“Why?” the senator wondered.

Last June, CNN and Fox News confirmed that investigations into Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, where potential lobbying violations and his personal finances are being evaluated, are reaching a key stage. However, according to sources cited by CNN, although officials handling the case are weighing bringing charges against Hunter, from the Justice Department there are efforts to avoid political use of the matter in an election year.

“Prosecutors confront Justice Department guidelines to generally avoid bringing politically sensitive cases close to an election,” reads the CNN report.

According to various national media, including Fox News sources, the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home would not be related to investigations into the alleged responsibility of the former president for Jan. 6 events, but about an unconfirmed taking of classified materials from the White House. However, there is still no official confirmation and the raid itself has generated much criticism within the Republican Party.

Yesterday, August 8, around 19:00 Miami time, former President Trump confirmed the raid and explained that it was an unannounced action that he called unnecessary and unjust.

“After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” Trump said in part of his statement released on social networks. “Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those countries.”

This is a developing story that could be updated as new information emerges.
