‘The Wise Latina’ Stuns Audience with Powerful Story on the REAL Clarence Thomas

Justice Clarence Thomas waited thirty years to put his impression on the U.S. Supreme Court in perpetuity.

After Thomas’s fractious 1991 Senate confirmation hearing that featured an incomprehensible diatribe from none other than Joe Biden (Thomas would later confess he “had no idea what he was talking about”) to the last few weeks’ blockbuster Supreme Court rulings authored by the hand of Thomas himself, it was refreshing to get a more sober and balanced perspective on the justice who is now “at the peak of his powers.”

So, while radical activists circulate the address of Justice Thomas in a vain attempt to intimidate him and nearly a million activists have signed a Move On petition to impeach him, the words of Justice Sonia Sotomayor rendered to the American Constitution Society annual conference in June are worth considering to get a picture of the “real” Clarence Thomas. Watch:

“But I suspect I have probably disagreed with him more than with any other justice, that we have not joined each other’s opinions more than anybody else,” Sotomayor said. “And yet Justice Thomas is the one justice in the building that literally knows every employee’s name — every one of them. And not only does he know their names, he remembers their family’s names and histories.”

“He’s the first one who will go up to someone when you’re walking with him and say, ‘is your son, okay?’ ‘How’s your daughter doing in college?’ He’s the first one that when my stepfather died, sent me flowers in Florida,” she added.

“He is a man who keeps cares deeply about the court as an institution, about the people who work there, but about people, he has a different vision than I do about how to help people and about their responsibilities to help themselves,” she continued. “I’ve often said to people, ‘Justice Thomas believes that every person can pull themselves up by their bootstraps. I believe that some people can’t get to their bootstraps without help. They need someone to help them lift their foot up so they can reach those bootstraps.’ That’s a very different philosophy of life.”

“But I think we share a common understanding about people and kindness towards them,” she added. “That’s why I can be friends with him and still continue our daily battle over our difference of opinions and cases.”

‘The Wise Latina’ really shared some powerful insight and words of wisdom for those attacking Justice Clarence Thomas. It is obvious Thomas cares deeply about the Constitution, the country, and its people. If people disagree with his rulings, there is always a political remedy — win elections and pass laws.
