Trump Agrees to Turn Over Financial Records to Congressional Committee

Leer en Español

The House Committee on Oversight and Reform announced Thursday that it reached an agreement to access the financial records of former President Donald Trump (2017-2021).

The Oversight Committee had requested in March 2019 from Mazars USA the financial statements and audits prepared by Trump and some of his companies, including that of the Trump International Hotel, located in downtown Washington, as detailed at the time by The Washington Post.

The newspaper specified that for more than a decade, Mazars USA and a predecessor firm had signed off on the financial statements Trump used to access credit, some of which included frequent exaggerations or inaccuracies that were accompanied by a note from the firm saying it was not responsible for inaccuracies in the information.

In August 2021, the justice had already ruled that the committee had valid legal grounds to request those documents, and the agreement reached now underscores that Trump has agreed not to issue any appeals in Washington courts and that Mazars USA agrees to turn the documents over to the committee as soon as possible.
