Former President Donald Trump is the favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, according to an informal poll of attendees at a conservative forum.
Some 59% of those polled during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held in Orlando (Florida) through yesterday, Sunday, said they would vote for Trump if the GOP primary were held now, according to media outlets such as CNN and CBS.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is second in preferences, with 28%.
But if Trump were not to run in the primary, DeSantis would be the favorite with the support of 61% of CPAC participants.
In a similar poll conducted by CPAC in July 2021 Trump garnered 71% support and DeSantis only 21%.
A recent poll conducted by the Florida firm St. Pete Polls revealed that 54% of Floridians support the administration of DeSantis, who will seek reelection in this year’s mid-term elections.
Among Hispanics, 52% approve and 41% disapprove.
