Former President Donald Trump said Monday that he will not return to the digital platform Twitter even if his account is reinstated. The Republican’s statements came after billionaire Elon Musk’s announcement that he will buy the company.

Trump explained to Fox News that he will formally join his own Truth Social network in the coming days, as planned. “I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump told the outlet.

“I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH,” he added.

Trump won’t return to Twitter

El American reported that Elon Musk acquired Twitter after a day of negotiations with the social network’s shareholder board, which accepted the Tesla CEO’s offer of $44 billion for the platform. With this move, Twitter will become a wholly private company.

Under the terms of the agreement, Twitter shareholders will receive $54.20 for each Twitter share to conclude the sale of the social network. Twitter’s share price is 38% higher than its closing price on April 1.

The head of the shareholder board, Bret Taylor said in a statement that “The Twitter Board conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon’s proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing. The proposed transaction will deliver a substantial cash premium, and we believe it is the best path forward for Twitter’s stockholders.”
