UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal was arrested Wednesday night for punching fellow UFC fighter Colby Covington at a Miami Beach restaurant.
Masvidal was released early this morning after posting $15,000 bail. He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with bodily injury and criminal vandalism.
The 37-year-old fighter, born in Miami, was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Jail by Miami Beach Police after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday (02:30 GMT Thursday) for punching Covington at a restaurant in the South Beach neighborhood on Monday night.
The police report states that as a result of the blows, the victim suffered a broken tooth and a bruise in his left eye, as well as damage to a $90,000 Rolex watch.
Images recorded by local channel WPLG show Covington leaving the premises after the fight, as well as Masvidal leaving the prison early this morning without making any statements and covering his face.
Masvidal and Covington were friends, even sharing a home in Florida, until their friendship broke down about three years ago, as reported by ESPN.
The two fought in the ring earlier this month in Las Vegas, with Covington, who also resides in South Florida, winning by unanimous decision.
