President Joe Biden has nominated pro-abortion campaigner Xavier Becerra as his pick to lead the Department of Health, he announced on Wednesday.
The move will further undermine Biden’s claim to be leading a centrist administration, with many Republicans considering the right to life as a fundamental political issue.
What has Biden done about abortion?
A Catholic in name only, Biden has acted under the euphemism of “reproductive rights” in direct support of abortions internationally. This publication has reported that within a week of taking office, Joe Biden immediately reversed a federal policy that prohibits taxpayer-funded abortions from going to international organizations that provide abortion counseling or information.
Since his campaign, Biden has openly defended his pro-abortion stance. He stated on his campaign website that he would restore funding to Planned Parenthood during his presidency.
“Biden will repeal Trump’s restrictions on Title X of the Public Health Service Act and restore funding to Planned Parenthood,” the campaign team states. “This vital public health organization will be able to continue to provide critical, quality health services to poor and underserved communities.”
Who is Xavier Becerra?
According to On The Issues, a website dedicated to tracking congressional votes and policy positions, Becerra voted staunchly in favor of abortion and against abortion restrictions.
From opposing making it a crime to harm an unborn baby, to voting against banning partial-birth abortions, to voting against banning abortion funding overseas.
After taking office as California attorney general, Becerra sued the Trump administration over its abortion restrictions, although his office says only four of the 124 lawsuits Becerra filed against the previous administration involved abortion.
The fundamental problem with Becerra, in addition to a dangerous abortion agenda he has constructed and defends to this day, is that he is not close to being technically and professionally suited for the position of Secretary of the Department of Health because he is not a doctor and has no training of the kind.
Senator Ted Cruz confirms this in an interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News: “Becerra is a trial lawyer, he has no scientific training, no training in virology, he never worked in a pharmaceutical company. He has nothing to do with health.”
In 2016, the abortion organization NARAL Pro-Choice America gave then-Rep. Becerra a perfect score on abortion-related votes. According to On The Issues, Planned Parenthood also gave the former congressman a perfect rating; meanwhile, the pro-life organization National Right to Life Committee gave him a 0%.
