A NEW Rasmussen Reports survey revealed that most Americans want to live in the state of Florida, governed by Republican Ron DeSantis. Florida tops the list of states Americans would move to if they had the opportunity, followed by California and New York.

“The latest national telephone and online survey reveals that 18 percent of American adults would prefer to live in Florida if they could move to any other state they wanted. Eleven percent (11 %) would prefer California, and 10 % would choose New York. Only six percent (6%) say they would prefer to live in Pennsylvania. Only four percent (4%) choose Illinois,” Rasmussen Reports explained after asking respondents, “If you could move to any state you wanted, would you prefer to live in California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, or any other state?”

The pollster detailed that thirty-seven percent (37%) of respondents said they would choose to live in some state other than the six mentioned, which are the most populous in the country. The survey was conducted with 1,000 adults from July 14-17, 2022. “The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a confidence level of 95 %.”

Americans look favorably on Florida

The data comes after a report released last month by Redfin ranked Florida as the top destination for Chicago and New York City residents to move to. The real estate firm released its study last July 22, and its results confirmed a trend that began a few years ago.

An article in El American explains that “in the leaderboard, both Miami and Tampa ranked at the top for the highest net inflow in terms of second-quarter 2022 homebuyers. Looking at them from behind were Phoenix (Arizona), Sacramento (California), and Las Vegas (Nevada).”

According to Redfin, people are choosing Florida to relocate because of the rising cost of living and real estate prices in their home states. Quality of life also made the list of reasons. By the end of 2021, New York City experienced a 15% increase in felony assaults each month. Chicago recorded 797 homicides over the past year and ranked top in the nation’s murder rankings.

Florida boasted of being the state that received the highest internal migration from April 2020 to July 2021. The U.S. Census Bureau reported this. Its data revealed that 264,000 people decided to pack their bags and start a new life in the state. The second place went to Texas with 211,000, and Arizona completed the podium with a little more than 100,000.
