‘I Definitely Won’t Vote For Him’: Independent Voters Walk Away From Fetterman After Debate

A few years ago, during his electoral research, sociologist Paul Lazarsfeld baptized a certain group of voters as “crystallizers”. They are characterized by defining their vote at the last minute and, in “purple” states, deciding the election in favor of one or the other. In Pennsylvania, John Fetterman and Mehmet Oz know perfectly well that their arrival in the Senate depends on them and, after the debate between the two, the Democrat has reason to worry.

The October 25 debate strengthened the Republican in the face of November 8 and this was reflected in the electoral betting market. Although not many polls were conducted after the televised confrontation, the only one that came out already shows Dr. Oz as the winner.

As for these “crystallizers,” Fox News conducted a timely group interview to gather their feelings about the debate and assess whether or not it had any effect on the perception of the candidates.

One of them, registered as an independent, revealed that the debate “definitely pushed me more toward Dr. Oz,” at the same time that Fetterman elicited “empathic” and “concerned” from him. “What we saw last night was sad… I’m concerned that they even put [Fetterman] out there,” the voter added.

Another of these undecided citizens stated without hesitation that “I will definitely not be voting for Fetterman.” However, he is not sure whether to vote for Oz or for the Libertarian candidate. At the same time, the latter’s response to being asked about his position on abortion stood out.

The voter pool formed by Fox News consisted of five people, three men and two women. When the moderator asked aloud who believed Fetterman was healthy to eventually serve as a senator, only one respondent raised his or her hand.
