Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence recently confessed her relationship with politics, including admitting difficulties with her conservative family, heartbreak over Donald Trump’s 2016 victory, and a strange obsession with Tucker Carlson.
In an interview for Vogue magazine, Lawrence said she was “consistently emotional” following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade. This decision revived substantial differences with her conservative family, especially her father.
After Trump’s 2016 victory, the Mother! actress says she struggled to “forgive” her Republican father, but the abortion debate following the overturning of Roe v. Wade appears to have revived their differences.
“I just worked so hard in the last five years to forgive my dad and my family and try to understand: It’s different. The information they are getting is different. Their life is different,” Lawrence noted about his family’s political stances.
Those ideological preferences among her relatives, for this actress who sympathizes with the tolerant Democratic Party, are intolerable. According to her testimony, she has tried to “get over it”, but it has been impossible for her to admit that her parents prefer to vote for the Republican Party.
Lawrence seems to be under the impression that in the U.S., one cannot have an apolitical position. Or judging from her relationship with her father, one should not have a position other than Democrat. “I can’t fuck with people who aren’t political anymore,” the actress said, arguing that American politics “is killing people.”
However, Lawrence confessed that she wasn’t always like that. In fact, being raised in a conservative household, she grew up believing she was a Republican. For her, it was, according to the interview, like supporting a sports team. Ironically, her ideology changed when she started making a ton of money in the movie industry and had to pay millions in taxes.
Still, she was not entirely happy with Hillary Clinton’s candidacy, but, in her view, anything would have been better than Donald Trump, whom she compared to a ” jar of mayonnaise.” He resorted to the well-worn misogyny argument, implying that Americans preferred to vote for a woman.
“It breaks my heart because America had the choice between a woman and a dangerous, dangerous jar of mayonnaise. And they were like, Well, we can’t have a woman. Let’s go with the jar of mayonnaise,” Lawrence said.
Tucker Carlson responded to Lawrence’s dreams
Although it initially seemed like a joke, the actress confessed to Vogue that she has recurring nightmares about Fox News star anchor Tucker Carlson and has even discussed it with her therapist.
Carlson’s provocative and sarcastic personality couldn’t let it go. On the most recent episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight, the host spent a couple of minutes touching on the Lawrence affair.

“When you decide to work in television, you lose control of a lot of things, foremost the way other people perceive you. So, can it really be your fault, are you really responsible, if major Hollywood starlets dream about you? Maybe it’s the sexy glasses. Who knows? We can all speculate.”
As Fox News contributor Trace Gallagher noted during the analysis alongside Carlson, while Lawrence may not be going to see the host’s response given her nightmares and psychological therapy, her conservative family likely has. In any case, Tucker Carlson said he was flattered.
