Senator Marco Rubio said Friday that he would ask for explanations about a report that indicates irregularities during the management of illegal immigrants who arrived on Martha’s Vineyard. He highlighted that people would have been assigned to shelters at random and that they were given a postal number without having one.

“Today I will be demanding answers from @DHSgov about reports from Martha’s Vineyard that federal agents assigned random homeless shelters across the country as the mailing addresses of illegal migrants, even after the migrants told them they had no address in the U.S.,” Rubio wrote on Twitter.

Arrival of illegal migrants on Martha’s Vineyard

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, sent a plane loaded with 50 illegal immigrants to the island of Martha’s Vineyard, located south of the Cape Cod peninsula in Massachusetts.

In response to the arrival of illegal migrants on the island, the Government of Massachusetts announced Friday that it will transfer to the Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC) half a hundred migrants sent untimely Wednesday night by the governor of Florida.

It was also learned that the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is coordinating efforts between state and local officials to ensure access to food, shelter and essential services for these men, women and children.
