Mehmet Oz and John Fetterman debated last Tuesday, October 25, for the first and only time in the Pennsylvania Senate election. After a worrisome “performance” by the Democrat, some media outlets are trying to claim that the current lieutenant governor was the victim of “unempathetic” treatment and even “bullying.”

This mantra was popularized by The View panelists, particularly Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin, but more journalists and former officials commented on it.

“What kind of a doctor is behind that? Aren’t you supposed to do no harm? It’s so un-empathetic to the guy, you know?,” Behar said, then passed the baton to Hostin, who went a bit further.

“It was really strange to me that he chose to bully a stroke victim, you know, he obviously was bullying him,” the panelist said, while also praising Fetterman.

“It takes real bravery to allow people to see your weakness, right? And we know that Fetterman’s cognitive abilities have not been compromised,” she added.

Author and MSNBC columnist Liz Plank also jumped on board. Following the debate, she posted on her Twitter account, “Dr. Oz just gave a master class on how to bully people with disabilities.”

For The Atlantic’s John Hendrickson, Mehmet Oz spent much of the debate against Fetterman “trying to swallow a smirk.”

After the debate, Mehmet Oz emerged as the clear winner, even among some progressive analysts. For example, Ethan Kelly, a popular election analyst on YouTube, had Fetterman ahead of Oz for months in the Senate race.

However, after the event, he changed his ranking and placed the Republican ahead of the Democrat for the first time. The same thing happened in the betting houses that, after the debate, also placed him ahead; something that could happen again next Tuesday, November 8.
