Tim Michels won the Wisconsin Republican primary with the endorsement of former President Donald Trump. Michels will now be tasked with taking on incumbent Democratic Governor Tony Evers in the November election. In this way, Trump is once again showing his influence within the Republican Party after a successful weekend when several of the candidates he endorsed won.

An article in El American, published last week after the results in the Kansas and Michigan primaries, explained that “This is a new show of strength of the former president, who has been very present throughout the primary campaign supporting some candidates and criticizing others, but had suffered significant losses in other primaries at a time when the possibility that he may decide to run for the 2024 presidential election is gaining momentum.”

Tim Michels’ proposal for Wisconsin

On his official website, Tim Michels says he is committed to an economy that benefits the state. His bio details that he is “born and raised in Brownsville, Tim Michels, endorsed by President Trump, is a conservative outsider who has a plan to put Wisconsin on the right track.”

“As governor, Tim Michels will fix the Wisconsin economy by taking his business and leadership experience and bringing it to Madison. He will always back the blue, back parents in public education, cut taxes, keep schools open five days a week, and ensure our elections are fair and transparent. He will make Wisconsin the greatest place to work, live, and raise a family,” the text reads.
