THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE delivered Thursday to a federal court in Florida a redacted version of the affidavit with which it justified the raid on the home of former President Donald Trump in Florida, with a proposal that hides the most sensitive information to allegedly not spoil the investigation.

The government thus met the deadline to send the document to Judge Bruce Reinhart, who will analyze it as part of a motion filed by the main US media requesting its disclosure.

Trump allegedly took classified documents from the White House to his residence in Mar-a-Lago, in South Florida, which according to The New York Times, totals more than 300.

Judge Reinhart has said that he will review the document edited by prosecutors and will see if any further editing on his part is necessary and also if it would be worth releasing it, noting that if there is much that is hidden, he will not offer the press “substance” of the case.

Therefore, the magistrate has not decided whether to publish the “affidavit” that justified the search last August 8.

Meanwhile, Trump has asked in another lawsuit for an independent expert witness to supervise the search, a more detailed account of what was seized during the search, which he considers “illegal,” and the return of what was not included in the warrant.

In the case with the media, Judge Reinhart has said that the government has demonstrated good cause/compelling interest that overrides any public interest in opening the full contents of the affidavit.

He has also said that he carefully reviewed the affidavit before signing the search warrant that authorized the FBI to search Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.
